What is dystonia?

The brain sends out random commands,

causing the body to move involuntarily in a twisting manner.

This is dystonia.

Depending on where the symptoms appear,

it can seem like a completely different illness.

It's a disease that's difficult to define and understand.

But try listening to what patients have to say.

You'll probably wonder, "Why isn't this disease more well-known?"

This disease is extremely fascinating.

Since its first release in 2013, "Dystonia" has been shown

at numerous screenings both in Japan and overseas,

and has garnered widespread support as a documentary

that conveys the real voices of patients.

In 2022, a sequel, "Dr. Taira in Nepal," was produced,

which closely follows Dr. Taira's stay in Nepal.

In 2024, a re-edited version of "Dystonia"

was produced with the support of crowdfunding.

Currently, the third film in the Dystonia series,

"10 Years Later," is being filmed.
